Learning the past tense form of sentences makes it easier for a person to express his ideas or opinions better, especially for past events or actions. As mentioned in the introduction of this chapter, the present tense form and the past tense form of sentences do not have a lot of differences. What is a little more difficult to teach students is the past participle form of the verb due to some irregular verbs. I always tell my students that the only way we can know these verbs is for us to memorize or at least get familiar with the regular and irregular verbs. As teachers, I think it is also easier to teach the past tenses if we show a graph or illustration when an action happened in the past. It will be easier for students to imagine or picture specifically when a past action with other past actions happened. Knowing how to write sentences in the correct past forms will allow learners to better express themselves.
