This unit focused on conditional and reported speech. Conditional speech is where a statement begins with an “if”. It reminded me of, “if this, then this”. The other part of this lesson talked about reported speech. Namely, reported and direct speech. This section gave me pause. I think I may have been over-thinking the idea of direct speech (only the test will show if I truly understood it). As I was understanding it, direct speech is just repeating what the other person had said. It seems like a simple concept, but for some reason I felt like it was a more complex idea.
