The first step for proper classroom management is learning how to properly maintain eye contact with the students so that you can ensure that the students are aware of what they need to do, to help indicate who needs to speak, to encourage contributions and participation, to maintain discipline, to signal students to move along, and to indicate that something is either right or wrong. The second step for proper classroom management is learning how to correctly use gestures to convey meanings, to help manage a class, to add visual elements, and to reduce the need for verbal explanation. The third step for proper classroom management is mastering the correct tone of voice and learning how to use rises and falls in tone of voice to make emphasis will talking. The second section talked about the different methods of grouping students within a class which include whole-class grouping which helps to create a sense of belonging among the group, students working on their own teaches them to be more self-reliant, pair-work allows the students to try new things, and group-work in which students can choose their level of participation in class activities. The third section talked about techniques for better using the white-board for teaching which include using a projector, preparing cards with words, and using chalk and markers for writing. The fourth section of the unit talked about the importance of having a balance between the amount of teacher talk time and student talking time by providing language input, giving instructions, and establishing rapport with the students. The fifth section of the unit talked about the different methods of providing discipline which include acting immediately, focusing on the behavior, keeping calm, and making sure to not make threats that you will not execute.
