With this unit being the last grammar unit, modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice were covered. Modals were pretty straight forward, they express different ideas such as obligation, possibility, permission, ability and advice. Using the method of role play would help students greatly with understand this concept; act out a conversation between doctor and patient, or a strict mother scolding her child. For passive voice it was clear too, in the passive voice the doer or agent is much less important than an active voice; the music was chosen by my friend vs my friend chose the music. Last but no least phrasal verbs, these are easy to understand for native speakers, but can be challenging for ESL students. Often, the meaning of the verb is changed by the addition of a particle, so it’s best to expose students with various contexts.
