This section was a great introduction to the many roles of the teacher, the perspective of the student, and the many levels of language acquisition. Teaching is a juggling act, and requires numerous decisions to be made (some simultaneously) when it comes to engaging students in the subject. Learning is also a multifaceted process, and the unit does a great job of laying out the components of a good learner (motivated, asks questions, and accepts corrections among others). It is important, as the teacher, to foster and nurture this mentality, but also important to recognize when a student falls short of this in order to ensure a productive and promising learning experience. A lot of this is affected by age and experience with learning, and a good teacher will recognize a students potential and limitations.
