During the course of this unit, I've learned about the way teachers and learners are viewed. As a teacher in Japan, and a former teacher in the states, I understood the use of several of the Teacher positions (prompter, tutor, model), but wasn't aware of the other models that a teacher could be. Likewise, I didn't realize that students had their own ways of learning, and that most of their opinions (on language, in this case) stem from the ability of what their teacher is. If they have a more active teacher who balances the ability to teach in front, while also allowing students the creative and individual freedom of being able to explore language themselves, then I believe the students will have better understanding of and ability to grasp language.
