I learned a lot in this unit that I had simply forgotten how to break down. So much in our lives as a native English speaker become habitual and automatic, that we forget the specific rules involved in English. Even for me, this unit took a few times of reviewing to really understand the differences between past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. As a teacher, I would suggest a wide array of activities that have students using each of these in pairs or groups. Followed by checking for understanding consistently through out each lesson.
