This lesson outlined the introduction of components of the English language to students and possible ESA lesson plans to suit the particular component that is being taught. I found this unit fascinating and incredibly helpful as it gave me a baseline as to how I should organize lessons as well as giving ideas for activities to add variety to the lessons. This unit also allowed me to realize all of the factors that had to be considered when introducing language components to the students, some of which I had not previously thought about, such as similarity to the students native tongue and others. This unit is invaluable as it gives a prospective teacher a guide to how a lesson could be carried out, but also makes sure that the prospective teacher knows that this type of lesson structure is not absolutely set in stone and should in fact be switched up from time to time. As with most of the units, a point that I have been increasingly noticing is that these are just guidelines and this course makes sure that the prospective teacher realizes that they will more than likely have to tailor their lesson plans to fit the students and curriculum set out by the school.
