Coursebooks and lesson materials are a great tool in guiding the teachers with the flow of the lesson. Authentic or creative materials can be used to help students have fun and better understand the lesson as well as make the class more effective and stimulating.
Regarding the choice of having a coursebook, there are several advantages and disadvantages discussed in the unit such as providing great ideas for inexperienced teachers as an advantage but the lessons might be unattractive as a disadvantage. It also talked about the best use of course books and the four different options for coursebook use; omit, replace, supplement, and adapt.
