This unit discussed learning a new language. It allowed me to think about components of a new language including vocabulary, grammar, and functions. It also provided strategies to engage the students on each one. It provided an explanation of how and when to teach vocabulary and grammar and the best, but not the only, way to do it. It also tied in previous lessons about how to plan an effective lesson so the students have the most potential to achieve their goals. The most important components for students to understand vocabulary is to understand meaning and use, interaction, spelling, pronunciation, and where it belongs in a sentence.
