In unit fifteen I learned different types of assessment techniques including tutorials, evaluations by students and tests. Tutorials are used to review work done, discuss aim of lesson and how well students performed on certain task. They are timely and cannot be used all of the time, perhaps once a week would be great, Evaluation by the students is a good tool for students that are older and have more English knowledge. It allows the teacher understand where the level of students awareness is. Tests are good for gaining further knowledge. Placement tests are used to assess knowledge prior to entering the class. Same with diagnostic testing. Progress tests can be given frequently and should include all categories of language, (reading, writing, speaking, and listening; as well as grammar and vocabulary.) Practice tests are good for more formal exams like some of the many general external exams.
