Planning a class is a complex but really necessary process that helps both, students and teacher use wisely their time, and take advantage of materials and previous knowledge. As a teacher, I have totally related to what was explained during this unit. When I first started and as an inexperienced teacher, I tended to have my lessons scripted until the minimum detail because somehow I was scared of running out of ideas or of not knowing what to do. I also made the mistake of delivering teacher-centered classes in which I became this boring chalk-and-talk kind of teacher, that would arrive with everything organized and lecture the kids for 45 min, not letting any room to flexibility. With the years I have changed this way of planning my lessons and I always carry with me some notes, ideas, and alternatives in case there is a need for shifting gears for any reason. Good reminders and examples with charts of how to plan a lesson taking also into account the different phases of it.
