While Unit 11 focused on discussing the receptive skills which are reading and listening, Unit 12 concentrates on the productive skills which are speaking and writing. Speaking and writing skills in learning a language focus on how learners can communicate what they have learned or discovered through reading and listening. This unit also tackled the differences and usefulness of accuracy activities and fluency activities. Both are important activities but must be used in the different stages of the ESA plan. Learners may find it hard to communicate or open up so as teachers, we must learn how we can make an environment where students are relaxed and comfortable in learning and communicating with others may it be through speaking or writing. The main goal is for teachers to teach the basics of grammar and language structure and have an objective where students can use it with confidence in communicating their thoughts and opinions.
