This unit gives an overview of receptive skills and how teachers can help to develop these in ESL learners.It teaches us techniques of developing writing and speaking skills in class. It then tells us about accuracy and fluency and how these are equally important in language learning. We get to know that accuracy must be focused on during the study stage while fluency is an integral part of the activate stage. This way, we get to know at which point, what kind of activity is appropriate. The lesson also gives various examples of activities to initiate speaking in the class-room and in doing this, we get to know og controlled and guided activities, creative communication , how to encourage students to speak and interact. This is demonstrated with the example of a straigh arrow ESA creative speaking activity lesson. Lastly, guidelines for a creative activity writing lesson is also provided.
