Amazing unit full of useful resources and teaching ideas!
When I started teaching I felt so naked and insecure without a textbook, but once I started having more experience and my confidence increased, I actually incorporated all sort of created and authentic materials.
I totally agree with the fact that a wise combination of both, textbook and created materials, is fundamental in order to create an interesting, successful and engaging class. My students always loved authentic materials, I remembered this class I had a couple of years ago, where all the students were boys and really into sports, so everytime I designed a lesson with actual and real stories (biographies, newspapers, Olympic Games stories and on and on) my students showed an incredibly high level of interest, what resulted in a great improvement of their vocabulary, and especially productive skills (which was rare coming from them as they were a really shy group).
I have printed all the teaching ideas, flashcards, role-plays activities cos I will sure use them very soon!
