In this Unit we encounter various types of speech involving conditions and reported speech. There are five types of clauses that we will be teaching: Zero clause, first conditional clause, second conditional clause, third conditional clause, and mixed conditional clause. We also learned several excellent teaching ideas such as pair and group work where one student reports something and the others report what the first student said. Then we learned about verb tenses and pronouns, which get "backshifted" when reported. Finally we learned about time expressions and how to teach them. Intermediaries, Reporting verbs, and media interviews are all excellent ways to get our students to practice this challenging area.
