Unit Five covers the most important elements of ESA lesson planning. The most important elements of a lesson plan record the teacher's name, date and time, class level, room, expected number of students, and the context and focus of the lesson. The lesson will convey the appropriate format for teaching the particular content as it is appropriate to the class level and goals for the lesson, i.e. Straight arrow, Boomerang, or Patchwork. The lesson plan is to keep learner objectives and teacher aims in check, provide a record of what is taught, provide a guide for the teacher and learners, and document the course as a whole. The lesson plan further helps to anticipate learner and teacher problems, and keep each lesson flexible, giving the students more control of their learning.
