this unit highlights the 4 different skills associated with learning a language: listening reading, speaking and writing the first two are receptive skills the second two are productive skills and how a lesson plan should be balanced and try to assimilate all of those skills as well as the special skills such as prediction and deduction during the lesson. difficult vocabulary and structure should be introduced in a pre teaching context not during the initial engage phase which is meant to illicit what the students may already know and to get them interested in further engagement. students are then activated by working in pairs to create their own thoughts about the content presented and share with other groups or class for feedback and for the teacher to respond to any errors that are being made. students can do another activate phase where they write a brief paragraph about a fomous person of their choosing without saying the person's name and other groups or rest of class has to try to guess who it is that they are giving biographical information about.
