This unit covers different ways of evaluating students' levels and progress. There are usually four different types of tests: placement, diagnostic, progress, and external. It is important to evaluate the students using formative and summative methods so as to compare what they have learned. In my opinion, tests should be minimal because lessons should not be guided by the tests the students take. Some students are also great students, but not good test takers, which is why subtle progress reports are important so that students won't experience the pressure of being assessed. I think testing is a contentious topic; some schools do not believe in testing yet they don't have the choice to opt out of testing.
