This unit covered teaching the productive skills of writing and speaking. When thinking about speaking, it gave methods for helping with accuracy and fluency. The goal of accuracy is mostly accomplished during the study phase of a lesson and is typically associated with guided practice activities in which the teacher (or the design of the activity) has more control over what the students say. The goal of fluency is typically associated with the activate phase of the lesson and the students are typically allowed to be more creative with what is said or produced. The lesson also covered the importance of dedicating class time to writing and the different styles and methods of writing.
