This unit covers the rules for past tense. Past perfect and past perfect continuous will be confusing for any English language learners as well as irregular past simple form. The irregular past simple form will need to be memorized as there is no rule around the formation of the form. Past tense is probably the most confusing grammar for an ELL student because it involves actions that are in the past but also continuous in the past. Past simple should not be called "simple" because it's one of the hardest to learn.
