In this unit it gives emphasis on the receptive skills which are reading and listening. These two receptive skills are equally important. Most people would say with our eyes and our ears. Beyond that our minds must not only be able to grasp their over all meaning from pre-existing knowledge of the word- Reading and listening are a matter of using our minds to literally understand words and process them in our pre-existent knowledge to gain true understanding. There are different specialist skills needed for reading and listening successfully such as: general idea, detailed information, and deduction from context. Teacher must be aware also of choosing the right topic which generate interest and create tasks that promotes understanding and challenges that is realistically achievable.
