This unit introduced the basics of how to teach a language. It explained both the good and bad aspects of the teaching methods of the past and how the current best practices developed. The Engage-Study-Activate method of teaching incorporates the best aspects of the past methods but also learned from their mistakes. It gives the teacher structure while still leaving us with the flexibility to customize the lessons to the particular level and needs of our students. This unit also provided examples of activities for every stage of a language lesson and taught how to use them to plan for targeted lessons for any level of student.
