The Unit Ten video lessons were samples of lessons that were meant to illustrate the distinct contrasts between a successful lesson and an unsuccessful lesson- basically, what to do versus what not to do. In the first video the teacher is abrasive, impatient, and difficult to understand, causing the students to feel confused and stunting their retention of the material. In the second video (which is twenty minutes longer), the teacher is friendly, engaging, and much more coherent, creating a relxed and inviting classroom atmosphere to which the students are substantially more responsive.
