I am relieved and delighted to see that classroom structure for teaching EFL is similar to the way I organize my English classroom now. In my own experience learning a foreign language, instruction was primarily audio-lingual and although I still recall many of our drills I never really learned the language. In the school where I teach now instruction is primarily grammar-translation. I have seen students gain a large vocabulary, but are not able to construct language in a useful way. They are merely learning enough to correctly answer a set of multiple choice questions.
I believe that having fun in the classroom, and relating lessons to real life activities is a much more effective way to learn. I look forward to creating engaging activities for students to learn English in a way that will be useful to them when they need to go out into the world and use what they have learned.
