In this unit we observed two lessons by the same teacher. The first lesson is hard to watch. Teacher does not do a warm up activity, but starts with a gramma immediately. It is clear that students do not understand words ‘necessary’ and ‘acceptable’, however he keeps asking them to give him examples. The study phase looked ineffective, as he only asked them to repeat phrases, without testing if they understood. The activation phase was very confusing and only during the middle of the game I was able to understand the rules. Teacher in general seemed to be unfriendly and intimidating.
In the second video, teacher is warm and welcoming. He approached the topic easily, therefore students were very active. The lesson runs smoothly, as it is well planned. When students make mistake or cannot understand, he explains it with a smile, therefore avoiding embarrassing the learners. However, in order to avoid confusion, teacher does ask many questions to make sure, that students fully understood.
