The main lesson I learned from this unit was the importance in focusing on students while teaching rather than worrying about the teaching methods themselves. The method and role an instructor adopts should be dependent upon students' needs and interests. It was also important to learn about the various types of young students and what challenges to expect with each type of young learner. I realized that since young learners tend to absorb language from context and usage in the same way they acquired their native language, I will need to attend to my own language and gestures in addition to learning more about native customs.
