Unit 13 is all about teaching pronunciation and phonology. Phonology is the study of science, analysis and classification of properties and sound. It is essential to understand under this branch of linguistics the concept of intonation, stress and articulation and how they will be taught among the students. Intonation is the variation of volume and pitch in a sentence. It is more on describing emotions and feelings in the sentence. The techniques that can be used are using nonsense words, gesture, humming or singing or by using the board. Stress on the other hand is the emphasis in the sentence. The emphasis or stress is an essential factor that affects the meaning of a sentence. Remember that, there are two rules about stress. Rule 1 states that there is only one stress in a sentence. Rule 2 states that there is only one syllable stressed in a word. The same as intonation, it can be taught using singing, gesture, choral group or using the board. Articulation on the other hand is the manner you articulate the sound. It can be taught by using tongue twister, reading phoenetic script or mouth diagram
