This unit is the most challenging for me as I have never really studied grammar formally, rather, I have acquired my way of working within the English language as a first language learner. The opening page of this unit, which says it could 'strike fear', this unit has done this to me. I have a reasonable understanding, however have found it truly enlightening and even found that, over the past few days as I write, I consider what type of word I am using. The natural flow of adjectives from size, age, colour, material, noun... makes sense, but I have never thought of this, rather it just is. I am seeing language with a logic, which I have never seen. I am seeing how complex learning English as a second language can be, as the rules are there but there are so many exceptions! How complicated! All good learning.
