This is the first unit where we have begun to discuss how to set up a class plan and then put it into motion so that it benefits all students and also the teacher. The best class plans seem to provide structure but are flexible enough to integrate unplanned things that may come up and would be useful to teaching. We also had a review of the present perfect simple tense since that would appear to be the tense most often used in the types of exercises being offered. Again, I see how important subject matter is in classroom discussions. A discussion on where one has traveled would go over flat with a group of refugees but would probably elicit a lot of enthusiasm from more college-aged academic students.
