This unit re-introduced the concept of receptive and productive skills, focusing on receptive skills of reading and listening specifically. The unit outlined the different skills employed depending on the objective of the reader or listener and the went on to give guidelines for teachers selecting text or audio-visual material to ensure students are interested and engaged. The rest of the lesson gave sample text and task sheets to demonstrate how reading material and tasks can be paired to help students practice their receptive skills.
