Unit five, which has taught me many things, covers the many aspects of the dynamic of the classroom, focusing on teacher behavior, student behavior, and the arrangement of the classroom. It is expected of the teacher to be a positive role model by being encouraging, addressing students' needs as individuals and as groups, and knowing how to use methods of controlling the classroom like voice, gesture, and eye contact to maintain the progress of the lesson. It is also used to maintain classroom behavior. If need be, the teacher can discipline the students in a number of ways. A teacher can act immediately or reprimand the student in private. The physical dynamic of the classroom can also have an effect on student behavior. There are several different types of arrangements including rows, circles, and horseshoe shaped seating arrangement. As with all the other aspects of this chapter, there are advantages and disadvantages which focus, among other things, on teacher/student rapport and classroom management of behavior.
