The final unit of the course went over troubleshooting some of the common situations faced by instructors. Establishing rapport with students during your first lesson is important as it will set the tone for the rest of the course. This can be even more complex when dealing with a new group as you will also need to build rapport among students. Several activities are listed in the unit that can build rapport among the class.
Another common issue is not having a fun warm up activity. Again this sets the tone for the rest of the session. If the instructor jumps right in with points of grammar, it is less likely that they will have enthusiastic, engaged students.
A significant challange that teachers face is that of students in the same class having different levels. The teacher wants to make sure that the stronger students do not get bored, while ensuring that the weaker students do not get frustrated. The unit discusses several methods for handling this situation.
