This unit covered four present tenses: present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. To use the most fundamental versions, present simple is "I go," present continuous is "I am going." present perfect is "I have been" and present perfect continuous is "I have been going." I found these tenses more complicated than I expected, particularly as I worked with their names. It made me want to avoid focusing on the names of the tenses in my lessons: I can remember how and when to use each tense, but it's a struggle to recite examples from just hearing "present perfect continuous." It's not a leap to imagine that students could experience the same thing, so this is something I'd be inclined to teach more instinctively and naturally. Laid out like this, it's challenging for a native speaker, let alone an English language learner.
