This unit covered the past simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous tenses. I found the past tenses more confusing than the present tenses because it was easier to identify the usage of the present tenses in texts and speeches. At first, it seemed that the past simple and past continuous had a lot of overlap, and it was rather hard for me to decode the purposes of the sentence examples given in the unit. While it is easier for us to speak using these tenses, teaching it to students and making sure they understand why and how each one is used will be challenging.
