Learning the many roles that teachers have made me appreciate the hard work they put in. Before reading the first unit, I would assume the roles of a facilitator and a prompter is one of the same. However, I realized a prompter encourages a student to figure out an answer. Whereas, a facilitator provides activities that enable students to learn the language for themselves. I also learn how to identify traits that makes a successful learner. This includes a willingness to learn and ask questions, a desire to experiment with the language, and the ability to accept errors to learn from. The unit also clarified the different levels of intermediate language levels. For example, pre-intermediate students are able to communicate on different topics but still lack fluency and grammar errors. Where as, upper-intermediate students are able to communicate on almost all topics using a great range of the language while still having accuracy issues. This unit helped the most in clarifying the differences between roles of a teacher and different language levels.
