Classroom management is the skill of organizing and managing the class, having a friendly, relaxed manner and maintaining discipline. The unit covers how EYE CONTACT, GESTURE AND VOICE help in class management. Eye contact can be used to; indicate that something is wrong or right, maintain discipline, etc. Gesture can be used to; add visual interests, convey the meaning of the language, reduce need for verbal explanations, etc. Voice, if used correctly can clarify. The voice should change naturally. This unit further covers how to and, when to use the student's name. In addition to the above, it covers grouping. for example, students can be put into; whole class grouping, pair work, group work and student working on their own.It covers the advantages and disadvantages of all the above grouping. Classroom arrangement is also discussed. We see that a class can be arranged depending on a number of factors. The unit goes a head to cover the position of a teacher, when to sit or stand, and how to write on the blackboard. Teachers should avoid over talking, should give individual attention, and should give clear instructions. The unit further discusses how to establish rapport and maintain discipline. Covers reasons for behavior problems, how to prevent them and, how to respond to them. I have learnt that I can find my own style of teaching through practice in the classroom. I have learnt to inspire confidence in my students. I have further learnt that I should change my role according to the activity and situations without being too dominant or leaving the students uncertain. And lastly,I have learnt that the name of the student should be used at the end of the question not the start. this keeps all the students keen since they don't know who will be asked to answer.
