There are two type of productive skills to consider when preparing a class; speaking and writing. These are known to be the most neglected set of skills in the TEFL world. With speaking, it is easier to correct and fix the errors verbally, because you can hear them. Writing is more difficult because there can be variations in handwriting, spelling and punctuation errors and so many others due to different language rules in other languages. When teaching these concepts of speaking and writing there are several different methods that will need to be approached, as well as activities, you may need to consider. Communication is crucial in the productive skills phase of learning. You will have to consider accuracy type activities for the study phase. Accuracy activities can be drills and other ways to correct pronunciations. With the activate stage, you will need to consider fluency types of activities, which will help the student experiment and create ideas with the language. This can be a group activity or an activity, such as a gap fill or matching activity, that helps the student select the correct words. In addition to these specific categories, the class should be conducted in a process of controlled, guided, and creative ESA matter. Teachers should also try to promote speech and writing when necessary and pay attention to hesitancy in speaking or writing. Finally, the teacher should make sure that they create meaningful and purposeful material and topics to help the students be motivated and shown interested. If we plan these productive skills carefully, the students should feel comfortable with the material. Additionally, our students should be able to succeed in learning a language that they are unfamiliar with ease.
