Unit 9 discusses and gives examples of lesson planning. The main purposes of writing down lesson plans is that they can function as an aid for planning, the plan can be a document the teacher can refer to during the lesson, and it can also act as a record for later reference.
Lesson plans should be simple and flexible. While it should be specific in terms of timing, phases, procedures, and goals, the lesson plan should not be rigid or completely scripted. It should include things like learner objectives, personal aims, the language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction.
In addition to the lesson plan, the teacher should always be prepared before class having had run through the lesson plan and preparing all the necessary materials.
