This unit focuses on what to look out for when teaching new vocabulary and how to execute it such that the students can remember the words and understand how and when to use it. I have always thought that the level of the students should be within a certain range of the difficulty of the word that they learn, so as to not complicate them beyond what they can understand, but it seems like that is not how it is to be done. The level of the students should in no way be a factor of what vocabulary that is taught to them. Of course, words taught to elementary school kids should not be words that they do not use often or even understand for their age. Firstly, they would have no need to such big words, and secondly, they would not have the opportunity to use it often, thus defeating the purpose of learning it in the first place.
