I have learned the different classroom management from eye contact, gestures and the voice to maintaining discipline in the classroom environment. This topic taught me that an effective classroom management paves the way for the teacher to engage the students in learning. A disorganized classroom without routines and expectations makes it difficult for the teacher to do her job. Managing a classroom is quite a challenge for me as a new teacher because I was trapped in the popular belief mentioned in the introduction page of this unit that a good teacher must be an extrovert in the classroom, that means being lively and amusing always which is a complete opposite of my personality. But when I read this lesson, I realized that there are really times that I have to be firm and times that I have to let my students discover learning themselves (with my clear instructions). Rapport between the teacher and the students is very vital to maintain classroom discipline and at least reduce or control students' problem behavior.
