This Unit is about conditionals and reported speech. There are 5 types of conditional sentences. Zero (if/when + present simple, present simple) is used for facts. First (if + present simple, will) is used for real or predictable situations in the future. Second (if + past simple, would/could + base form) is used for unreal situations. Third (if + past perfect, would/could + have + past participle) is used for hypothetical past action. Mixed (if + past perfect, would + base form) is used for hypothetical past action and present consequence.
