This unit focused on the method and techniques of teaching. It is interesting to read about them because I recognize them from many classes that I have taken, not just language classes. There are a variety of games and activities that can be incorporated into the classroom to make learning better for the students. This unit gave a wide variety of examples that can be used to help get the most out of learning. The methods of learning a new language was interesting to read about, because when I have attempted to learn other languages, I have mostly focused on the grammar-translation method. I don't know if I was even aware of other methods. So, now I appreciate learning about them. The bulk of this unit was describing the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) technique. I think this is incredibly useful. In university, I worked with my psychology adviser on a study using language and the technique used in the study was essentially ESA. The unit gave many possibilities for teaching, and ultimately what will be most effective depends on the students, their backgrounds, and how the learn best.
