Speaking and writing are essential skills for communicating with others. When teaching students how to speak properly, it is more important to focus on fluency and to encourage participation to increase the students language output, then focus on subtlety correcting errors. When teaching writing skills, activities should be much more guided in order to help improve accuracy. When speaking, errors can be corrected on the spot, but when writing, errors need to be corrected at the time of the activity or else when someone else goes to read what is written it can be confusing and hard to interpret.
