In Unit 6, we studied the different types of past tense verbs. There are many irregular verb forms to consider in this particular tense. One irregular verb form is the verb 'to go'. When conjugated the verb is created as follows. I go, I went. There are several different past tenses. They are the following: Past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. Each tense has their own set of rules. Past Simple is when actions are completed in the past. We form the affirmative form as follows (Subject+ verb+ed). The next tense is Past continuous, when the action was in progress at a particular time in the past. The formation of the affirmative form is as follows (Subject + was + verb+ing). The next tense is the Past Perfect. We use this tense when an action refers to the past and relates to another past action. We format the affirmative form as follows: (Subject + had + verb+ed). The last past tense to look at is the past perfect continuous. This is used when their are past action that continued up the current moment that we are referring to. The way we construct the affirmative form of this tense is as follows:(subject + had + been + verb+ing). We must not confused some of these tenses with the present perfect or present perfect continuous forms and be ware of mistakes in sentence structure and usages when teaching. If we pay attention to these issues, we will be better teachers for our students.
