Conditional Sentences are also known as Conditional Clauses or If Clauses. They are used to express that the action in the main clause (without if) can only take place if a certain condition (in the clause with if) is fulfilled. There are five main type of conditional sentences; zero conditional which is used for present, real or factual situations; the first conditional is using for future real or factual situations; second conditional for present or future unreal and imaginary situations; third conditional for past unreal and imaginary situations; and finally, mixed conditional, the clause combined with second and third conditionals. Indirect speech is also known as Reported Speech, Indirect Narration or Indirect Discourse. In grammar, when you report someone else’s statement in your own words without any change in the meaning of the statement is called indirect speech. Quoting a person’s words without using his own word and bringing about any change in the meaning of the statement is a reported speech. The basic rules are mandatory for converting a Direct Speech into an Indirect Speech. In general, personal pronouns change to the third person singular or plural, except when the speaker reports his own words; time and place must often change when going from direct to reported speech. Normally, the tense in reported speech is one tense back in time from the tense in direct speech. The tense doesn’t need to change if the reporting verb is in the present, or if the original statement was about something that is still true.
