From this section, I have learned important things about the role of the teacher and the student in ESL lessons. The unit focuses on what it is to be a good teacher and a good learner, and the characteristics of each, as well as giving an overview of the language levels of students - both the common breakdown and the Common European Framework - and the distinctions between adult and child learners. In particular, I have learned how the teacher must avoid certain errors, such as speaking too much or correcting every mistake the student makes, in order to ensure the pupil feels as confident and motivated as possible.
