This course gave a great overview of two key aspects of classroom management, as well as a variety of other aspects. First it focused on how to group the class for activities. Obviously having gone to school I have done activities many times, but have never given thought to how students learn best in the activities, or in the case of English Language Learners how best they can be put into group activities to maximize STT. The other key aspect reviewed was the arrangement of the classroom and the position of the teacher. There are three key arrangements and they play into how each one works best the type of group activity.
Of the other smaller sections on classroom management, I found giving Instructions to be most helpful. To check for understanding by asking, "what are you going to be doing?" This make more sense than asking a closed ended question, which is typically replied to with a "yes" or blank stares.
