In this unit, I have learnt valuable insight on how a classroom is managed. It is important to establish a rapport with the students which will inturn provide the students with a confident and relaxed atmosphere for them to learn. Using proper eye contact will help students determine when an activity has begun as well as if it is their turn to respond. Gestures and voice are equally important in order to hold the students attention as well as maintain discipline within the classroom. I found it very helpful learning the different class arrangements and which would be more successful. It is recommended for 25 students and more that orderly rows work best. For a small class of students, I would use the horseshoe arrangement, as I found it worked best when I took a francisation class many years ago. As I was reading this unit, it brought me back to those days. It was a perfect settings as we could commence together and the teacher was in a less threatening position as when I was in grade school. The teacher conducted the class in this manner throughout my courses there. It helped us students interact together, get over being shy and more productive in our French learning. Another point in this lesson was giving instructions. I found it helpful to know the best way. Keep it simple, use simple language and visual clues when neccessary.
