This unit is entitled "Troubleshooting". It addresses a number of potential classroom teaching situations. The situation of the first lesson is discussed, with ideas for building rapport, finding out about the students, their needs and thir levels. "Warmers" are covered, and several ideas such as Hangman and Pictionary are suggested. The challenges of teaching to a group with different levels are also discussed, with several suggestions. Ways of addressing the challenges of large classes are presented. These include worksheets, pair and group activities and choral repetition. Other topics included in this unit are: the use of the students' language, reluctant students and the difficulties associated with understanding listening texts.
